Yu et. al (2022) showed melatonin treatment ameliorated Ang II-induced atrial structural and electrical remodeling by restoring atrial BCAA catabolism. This suggests a novel therapy for atrial fibrillation by targeting BCAA catabolism.

The electrical mapping system with a multi-electrode array (8 x 8 grid) was used to measure epicardial conduction signals which were further processed into e.g. conduction velocity, absolute inhomogeneity and inhomogeneity index by EMapScope software.
